Surreal Tutorial Review

The Photoshop surreal landscape I decided on creating was written by Jenny Le and posted here in this tutorial called How to Create a Surreal City Landscape Photo Manipulation with Adobe Photoshop.

This tutorial was easy to follow although I did have some complications understanding how to do some parts. For example, on the section where I had to lighten only part of a layer was difficult because I wasn't sure how they managed to do so. The pictures were adequate to follow and most of the instructional text was understandable. For others users wanting to complete this tutorial, I would advise that they know the basics of Photoshop and understand where everything is located. Once they are knowledgeable about the application, following the tutorial should be easier. The intended audience is for intermediate users as well. I found the tutorial topic very interesting for I learned new skills. For example, I learned how to use color fill and how it colors the layers, adjusting curves to create a foggy/haze look, and using gradient maps and photo filters. I did stick to the directions although modified some of the curve adjustments for I had a couple of different images than the tutorial had used. When adding or modifying, I would suggest having your own personal take on the psd. Add things that aren't in the tutorial or change colors around to add your own style to it.

Conclusion: Overall I would say this tutorial was informative and mostly clear to understand. To make this tutorial better, it should be more clear on the sections regarding painting over a layer so only the unpainted parts will be affected by the curves/hue etc. Other than that it wasn't that challenging and I was still able to create a surreal landscape with my own little twist to it. So whether users use the same images as the tutorial or not, they would still be able to come out with an awesome surreal landscape. This is a great tutorial and I would recommend it to others.

Animated GIF

My Animated .gif

My first efforts in developing my own animated .gif was coming up with a rocket surprise ending. The techniques applied and story I created was the obliteration of the Death Star from Star Wars. The rocket is being launched from the planet Endor and is flying straight to the planet to destroy the Empire. You can see in the end Princess Leia and Chewbacca celebrating now that the Death Star is no more.

Rocket Surprise Ending

Colony's Titans Against Cancer Club

My school themed gif I chose was Titans Against Cancer Club.
I decided on this school theme because I am a part of this club and I believe everyone should join.
My animated gif message was to inform others into joining this club and help spread awareness throughout the school. Many of us may have a loved one or close friend who is/was diagnosed with cancer. In this club, we try to spread awareness around and we also do our best to help those that are affected.

I believe the intended audience such as the students at Colony High, will respond to my animation because there may be people that know someone who is/was diagnosed and may want to spread awareness to others.

I sent the gif to Mrs. Sikes and I did not receive a response yet.

What I would do differently with my next project would to be more informative and creative.

Celebrity Sighting

Captured by TMZ Paparazzi

Ava Hess and Hugh Jackman at the Oscars.

Today our paparazzi captured Ava Hess and Hugh Jackman together at the Oscars! We find them near the red carpet and stopping to get their photos taken by paparazzi. They were seen at this award ceremony because Hugh was nominated for best actor in his musical film, Les Miserables. These two  seem like the greatest of friends and they are always seen smiling and laughing together.

Vision for the Future

Vision Board

"This is what I have planned for my future, created using Photoshop and my determination to make it happen"

I have chosen these images because these are the things I love and may help me be successful in the future. For example I chose the UC Irvine image because that is where I would like to attend to further my education. I would like to major in Computer Game Science and become a video game designer in the future. I have also inserted the images of Activision, Blizzard, and Naughty Dog because these are a few possibilities of where I can work. They are all gaming industries that I would love to work at and I know I will get there if I work hard and be successful in school.
